General Program Info
What age range can participate in DACT productions and classes?
We welcome children ages 3 to 18 to join our productions, classes, and camps.
Do you have to audition to be in a show?
Yes, auditions are required for all productions.
What kinds of classes or camps do you offer?
We offer year-round theatre and dance classes, as well as spring break and summer camps.
How often do you put on productions?
We produce five major productions each year:

Auditions & Casting
When and how are auditions held?
Auditions are held in person at our campus located at 2526 S. 7th Street. Dates are posted on our social media and the Upcoming Events page.
What should my child prepare for an audition?
Children should prepare a 32-bar or one-minute song with an instrumental or karaoke track to sing at auditions.
Can everyone audition? Do all kids get cast?
Yes, all children are welcome to audition. We do our best to cast everyone, though it may not be possible if we have a large number of auditioners.
How are casting decisions made?
We give priority to military families, but strive to cast fairly. Unlike many programs, we do not emphasize competition. Casting is based on many factors, not just talent. Our focus is on fostering creativity, confidence, and joy in theatre.
Rehearsals & Performances
When and where are rehearsals held?
Rehearsals are held at the DACT Campus:
Mondays: 6:00–8:00 PM
Wednesdays: 6:30–8:30 PM
Thursdays: 6:00–8:00 PM
What is the time commitment for a production?
Students must attend at least two rehearsals per week. Most productions rehearse over a 6–8 week period.
Where do performances take place?
Performance venues vary. We have previously partnered with Abilene Community Theatre (ACT), Abilene Christian University (ACU), and local schools.
Do parents need to volunteer or help backstage?
Yes! We always welcome and appreciate parent volunteers.
Cost & Financial Info
How much does it cost to participate?
Classes: Monthly tuition (see our registration site for rates)
Shows: $50 for civilian families / $40 for active military
Do you offer scholarships or financial assistance?
Yes! Please contact us directly to request a scholarship application.
Are there any costume or ticket fees?
We aim to keep our programs accessible.
For shows: Parents may be asked to provide basic costume items (e.g., t-shirts, shorts, leotards).
For dance classes: A costume fee is required for recitals.
All events are ticketed, but we keep prices as low as possible.
Inclusion & Accessibility
Are your programs open to children with disabilities or special needs?
Yes. While we may not be able to accommodate major medical needs, we welcome neurodivergent children and those with mild to moderate disabilities. We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive space for all.
Do you offer military or sibling discounts?
Yes, we offer both military and sibling discounts.

Can families watch rehearsals?
Yes, families are welcome to observe rehearsals.
What is your refund or cancellation policy?
We do not offer refunds for show participation once costumes have been purchased.
